Sri Lanka Essentials in style - 8 Days
Welcome to Sri Lanka. On your arrival our representative will receive you in Colombo International Airport and transfer you to The Wallawwa boutique hotel for an overnight stay. Wallawwa Boutique Hotel is situated very closer to the airport, just 20 minutes drive. You could relax at the hotel chilling out by the pool for the rest of the day.
Take a scenic flight to Sigiriya from Colombo International Airport at 10 AM and you will be in Sigiriya in 30 minutes. Rest of the day you could relax and chill out at Kandalama Lake Lodge and even take some locals walks around the hotel on your own to witness the typical life and culture of the area.
Next day after breakfast our specialist village guide will take you for a guided cycling ride in the back roads of Sigiriya Rock Fortress which gives you an insight to village life and agriculture in Sigiriya. Park your cycle and explore the Sigiriya Rock Fortress with a specialist guide to witness this historical and architectural masterpiece built by King Kassapa in the 5th century. Once you descend back to the foothills, enjoy a refreshing King Coconut drink and cycle to a villager’s home through rural countryside where you would see village boutiques, forest patches, lakes and different sights of true village life. At the villager’s home you will be served with an authentic home cooked traditional rice and curry meal over few chilled Beers.
Before we leave for the afternoon game drive in Minneriya National Park, you could either relax at the villager’s home or we could take you back to the hotel to refresh before the safari. From 3 to 6 PM you will be in Minneriya National Park with a naturalist seeing the Elephants in the wild. During the months of July and August you could see herds of Elephants large as 200 to 300 Elephants at once. In the evening you could enjoy some fine gourmet food at Kandalama Lake Lodge.
After breakfast, take a drive to Kandy, the most venerated city of Sri Lanka where Lord Buddha’s Tooth Relic now calls home at Kandy dynasty’s royal palace. On the way to Kandy, explore historical Dambulla Cave complex. Dambulla is the biggest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka and there are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings related to Gautama Buddha and his life. Dambulla cave and temple complex dates back to the first century.
In the afternoon you could spend some relaxing time at the hotel you stay for two nights, that is Elephant Stables Boutique Hotel in Kandy.
On day two in Kandy, we take the morning train to Nuwara Eliya. A not to miss experience in Sri Lanka where the train marches passing tea estates, forests, villages and various other scenic parts of the hill country. This is approximately a 4 hours train ride to the very heart of the Tea country of Sri Lanka where British colonial occupiers called it “Little England”.
Lunch at Heritance Tea Factory Hotel is recommended. Heritance Tea Factory Hotel, a Tea Factory converted to a fine hotel, stands tall majestically amidst rolling Tea growing hills.
In the afternoon we take you a for a complete Tea experience in a Tea factory and a estate in Nuwara Eliya to witness and understand how the World’s best, Ceylon Tea is produced with a Tea tasting session. Tea produced in Sri Lanka is known to be the finest in the world and contributes significantly to Sri Lanka’s economy. After the tea experience, drive down to Kandy witnessing one of the scenic drives in Sri Lanka.
On day six you will be flown to Galle for a brief beach stay by a domestic flight which takes only 30 minutes, pretty southern coastal town famous for its beaches and historical Dutch Galle Fort. You will be staying the last two nights in Frangipani Tree, a fine boutique hotel right on the beach. On arrival at Frangipani Tree you could relax by the sea.
Day seven too you could spend by the sea and indulge in fine food at Frangipani Tree. Late afternoon you will be taken to Galle Dutch fort for some leisure strolls in the streets of Galle Fort. Watching sunset over the ramparts of the Dutch Fort is a memorable experience.
The last day of your trip in this tropical Island of Sri Lanka, after breakfast you will be transferred to Colombo International Airport for the flight back home.
